I Had a Dream

Should anything ever happen to me be it tomorrow or 50 years from now, I want this song played at my funeral. I know, you're thinking geez, way to be morbid, Michelle. But I'm serious. I love this song and it says everything that needs to be said. Perfectly. Simply. Sweetly.

The song is Dream by Priscilla Ahn:

I was a little girl alone in my little world who dreamed of a little home for me.
I played pretend between the trees, and fed my houseguests bark and leaves, and laughed in my pretty bed of green.
I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest swing.
I had a dream.

Long walks in the dark through woods grown behind the park, I asked God who I'm supposed to be.
The stars smiled down on me, God answered in silent reverie. I said a prayer and fell asleep.
I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest tree.
I had a dream.

Now I'm old and feeling grey. I don't know what's left to say about this life I'm willing to leave.
I lived it full and I lived it well, there's many tales I've lived to tell. I'm ready now, I'm ready now, I'm ready now to fly from the highest wing.

I had a dream

  1. I LOVE this song! One of my very favorites! I seem to remember you as a kid saying that you wanted "Only The Good Die Young" played at your funeral...will it come before or after this one?

  2. True, I did say that, Jenn. However, since I'm now an old woman this request will have to replace my last one :)

(By the way, you have an AWESOME memory!)

  5. We had an assignment in 8th grade to plan our own funerals and I can't even remember why. However I think it's a good idea. My mom asked all my grandparents what they wanted done at their funerals and wrote it down and so when the time came we didn't have to think of what to do.
